NEW IN THE SAGE
It was something I always assumed I would do. My dad served as a Navy“Seabee” in South Pacific during WWII. I had uncles who served in each of the military branches. I received a deferment from service to attend college. Now it was my turn; it was a duty, not a choice. It was 1969 and the Vietnam War was raging; still, it was my turn - I would take my chances as others had before me and as many would who followed. Full Article
What have we created? Our desire to build a better, safer, more inclusive and politically correct environment to raise our children and grandkids might have backfired on our otherwise good intentions. ... Our desire to insure a happy and non-discriminatory environment for our little darlings might just change the direction of our society in the future, and not for the “better”. Full Article
Transgenders in the Military
A victory for Left is not a victory for America
Last week Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotely of the U.S. District Court of Columbia placed a partial block on President Trump's recent transgender military ban which was implemented in August of 2017. Originally Trump's directive sought to ban transgender people from entering the armed forces and to prohibit them from serving "in any capacity." After controversy ensued, Secretary of Defense General James Mattis said that under that order the Pentagon will develop a study to deploy the ban in a way that will focus “on what is best for the military's combat effectiveness leading to victory on the battlefield.”

AN INDEPENDENCE DAY WISH
In appreciation for what this day represents, and for the blessings of liberty it has given us I have but one wish. My wish is that for each gathering of family and friends, private and public, time be set aside for a reading of the Declaration of Independence. The reading may be done by a senior statesman of the group, or by its most junior member; it may be by an individual member, or with several members, each reading individual parts. The important thing is that it is read, and ideally, followed by a discussion of its meaning.
I would suggest particular attention to the following excerpts:
The Preamble: “When in the course of human events…” Note the appeal to nature’s God as the basis for seeking independence.
The self-evidence of the equality of man, and the enumeration – but not limitation – of unalienable rights endowed by God (the Creator), not government.
The right to PURSUE Happiness – not the guarantee that it will be achieved, as Benjamin Franklin admonished.
The relationship between the people and their government:
Governments are instituted by the people
Government derives all power from the people
It is the right of the people to alter or abolish governments destructive to the ends for which created
People are inclined to suffer abuses by governments long established.
When governments become despotic, it is the right – the duty – of the people to replace them
The delineation of offenses of the Crown includes many that apply to our own government today, in particular:
“He has endeavoured to prevent the Population of these States; for that Purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of foreigners…” The key point now is the obstruction of laws for naturalization.
“He has erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harrass our People, and eat out their Substance.” There is no more clear parallel.
“He has combined with others to subject us to a Jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our Laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:” This includes the allowing of Sharia law and the reliance upon international laws in violation of the supremacy of our Constitution.
“For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:” No further comment necessary.
And the final sentence is especially poignant: “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our fortunes, and our sacred Honor.” Once again, invoking God (Divine Providence) as the guide in this grand experiment in freedom, and the pledge of most everything of value to secure it.
I hope you will act on my wish and read together our Declaration. It is, in my opinion, the most elegant statement of the relationship between man, God and government ever written. It is worth a moment of our time and reflection as a thank you for the freedom and independence it gave us.
I'm fed up with the establishment - including the GOP, the media, the Trump Never crowd and the rest of the Monday Morning Quarterbacks for whom Donald Trump can't do anything right.
Now they are apoplectic about him not calling by name the hate mongers and racists. Yet Obama went eight years refusing to call Islamic Terrorists by name... and most of these holier-than-though types were muted, if not silent.
Give the guy a break!
