Professional Sports ...
and other forms of entertainment - "entertainment" is the operative word. People watch sports for entertainment. Whether football, baseball, basketball, golf, tennis, the intent is the same - to be entertained by well trained and high level performing athletes. The fact that, in the minds of many, they are overpaid, over indulged and over celebrated, is beside the point. That is, until they take it upon themselves to do other than entertain. That tendency becomes especially annoying when they attempt to take on the role of "moral compass," something professional athletes and other celebrities are hardly in a position to proffer.
We watch sports to be entertained. We go to movies to be entertained. Some of us even indulge the need of celebrities to be feted at their annual self-congratulatory parties like the Academy Awards. We do so to be entertained, not to be lectured or guided in moral behavior.
So it stands to reason, if we support these activities to be entertained, then entertain us - and do no more. The public will be better served, and less inclined to turn off the television or stay home. Many of us had already taken that action... and many aren't coming back.
Russia is a Ruse - the REAL Criminals Run Free
Regarding unfounded claims against President Trump and his family and administration of Russian meddling in last year's election:
Two Senate bills have been filed to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller from being fired by President Trump.
Another idea being mulled is that Congress could hire Robert Mueller as a special prosecutor if he is fired by President Trump from his current role.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller has impaneled a grand jury. He has also staffed his office with all democrat, many Clinton loyalists and major donors – hardly an unbiased approach. These people are on a witch-hunt, pure and simple. Investigators continue to aggressively gather pursue a case for which there is NO indication of wrongdoing. This is not an investigation – it is an inquisition!
On the other hand, Hillary, and/or Bill Clinton are KNOWN to have done the following:
Exercised unfair influence on Bernie Sanders candidacy, evidenced by Russian hacking of Clinton/DNC computers
Sold Uranium to Russians
Made Special deals with Switzerland and Bangladesh using State Department influence
Maintained Servers in her home to avoid government oversight; Deleted 30,000+ deleted emails; Destroyed data and lap top computers
Paid exorbitant speaking fees for both her and Bill, including Russia
Had questionable dealings and operations with Foundation and CGI and foreign nations
Made deals with China and major Chinese donors
Made foundation and CGI deals with Haiti shown to be scams
Had a secret meeting with Bill and AG Loretta Lynch while Hillary under investigation
Received preferential treatment with Hillary “invited” for discussion without transcript and not under oath
Barack Obama and his team:
Tried to influence Israel election
Had Lois Lerner and IRS target conservative organizations
Had Eric Holder sell arms to Mexican drug dealers under “Fast and Furious” program
Made unapproved “treaty” in secret with Iran with unauthorized unmarked bills shipped to Iran in the middle of the night to avoid scrutiny
Made Deals with cronies such as Solyndra in “green” projects
Lied about Obamacare and violated law after law;
Conducted Illegal alien amnesty
Appointed more than 30 unelected “czars” to positions in federal agencies while the Constitution requires that such appointments be vetted by Congress.
Had known Muslim Brotherhood ties
Neither Clinton nor Obama have been subjected to the treatment of the Trumps and their staff, though BOTH have far greater evidence and of more serious wrongdoings!
Former FBI head Comey was fired for good reason after bungling the whole Hillary Clinton fiasco. He, along with Loretta Lynch and Eric Holder, were all guilty of covering up or refusing to prosecute one scandal after another.
Now Mueller – and the whole damn White House staff of Obama and Clinton appointees – need to go. President Trump is justified, and has the authority, to fire them all. Republicans in Congress need to support him. They sure as hell had no problem ignoring the more serious transgressions of the Clintons and the Obamas.
What's Wrong with Me?
The institution of marriage has been around for 5,000 years or longer. The purpose of marriage is long established by custom, social contracts and religious beliefs. It's purpose is first of all to promote procreation - the survival of the human species. While other animals do not "marry," as such, they mimic the institution, sometimes with lifelong mates, and sometimes with polygamous behaviors - but virtually always between a male and female of the species.
Given the long-standing tradition, the legal sanction, the religious sanctity and the widespread occurrence in nature, why have we allowed a small percentage of society (less than 4%) to hijack the institution and destroy it's essence: a commitment between a man and a woman to enter into an intended life as husband and wife?
A return to common sense is long overdue.
A 2-Minute Civics Lesson
To listen to the media and the politicians and pundits as they feign outrage over every act of gun violence, one has to ask, are they reading the same Constitution as I am? Or are they just ignorant of its meaning.
A little background. In 2011, FBI statistics report that about 2,900 deaths were caused by: knives or cutting instruments, blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc.), and personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.). Presumably, if guns were not available, people wanting to kill could use many other means. A little logic goes a long way.
Further, the anti-gun forces also appeal to "logic," asking "how many shells does it take to kill a deer?" This suggests that the capacity of a weapon and the number of rounds in possession can be regulated without reasonably limiting the intent of the 2nd Amendment. One problem: the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting; nor is it about home protection. It is about an armed populace being a deterrent to tyrannical abuse by government, such as exists in China, N. Korea and Russia today.
Note that the intent does not require Americans to actually take up arms against tyranny, merely that they could -- and that reality is sufficient to keep government in check.
With 300 million firearms in the hands of citizens, freedom is pretty secure. The actions of a tiny percentage of deranged individuals does not alter the constitutional intent of the amendment as written.
